Got a 12 speaker..

It's an 8 ohm Altec Lansing 418-8B. The frame is white and the bell is grey. There is a serial number on it, but no stamped number that I can find. How do I date it? Is it good as a guitar amp speaker? Thanks.

What makes a good guitar speaker depends on what kind of sound you want.
The Vox guitar speakers fo the 1960s had an asymmetrical magnetic field that created distortion, the Beatles like this. John;)
