2235 sub questions

I am building the 4430's and separate boxes for the bass. How many port holes do I need to drill for the bass boxes using 2235's? I noticed on the 4435's that there is only one port. Is this because of the 2234 instead 2235? Sorry for all the questions. :o:

hi, afaik the 4435 are tuned much lower (27hz?)... Are you building your own crossover? Which coils then?

I am basically building a 4435, but split into two boxes. I would like to use the crossover network from a 4435, bi-amped of course. I do not have the networks as of yet.

I need to travel into the other regions of the forum and find out how to get my hands on some. I am using 2235's at the moment, but have another two that need new surrounds, then make the swap for 2234's. Right?... :blink:

At this point I have built the boxes. There are 4 boxes all built from the 4430 info from this forum.

so you want to mix 2234? Crossover is no problem, tho i wanted to ask about the coil tolerances, those used seem rare, besides the 0.05 and 18mh, but JBL's might be 10% off as well. How much do you plan to spend on caps?

I am not wanting to mix drivers. I need a little guidance as to what the speaker compliment should be. 4430 + xxx5, or a 4430 and 2235 sub. The more I am looking into this the 4430 + 2235 sub might be the easiest.

I was trying to build a 4435 but split into two sections. Basically because of room limitations. That's what I meant with the xxx5, the bass portion of the 4435.

Correct me if I'm wrong:
You want to build 4430 clones, but with 2234 instead of 2235, and with the lower 4435 tuning (26Hz), and then two more boxes with one 2234 in each, also tuned to 26Hz in 140L. Then you would use the crossover network from the 4435, having the subs rolled off at 6db/oct.
If you do that then the placement of the two 2234 "subs" will be critical, as there will be sustential low mids coming from them. They will need to be more or less "time aligned" with your 4430s, and as close as possible.

The other solution would be to have only 2235s, cloning the 4430 and B380.
This way the subs would be easier to place in your room, without much concern about stereo imaging or time alignement with the 4430s.

I guess the first solution would be better, if properly implemented (sub placement)
