For those that have bought JBL Pro parts; who are your trusted contacts for good service and prices? What I’m after is the parts for the CMCD-61H. It consists of the 165H 6.5” midrange, phasing plug, rear can chamber, and a few gaskets. Not interested in the waveguide horn. The part numbers can be seen here à http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/AE%20Series/AM4315,64-WH.pdf (http://www.jblproservice.com/pdf/AE%20Series/AM4315,64-WH.pdf)

I would even go for locating some used ones pulled from cabinets. I’d appreciate your help on this. Thanks guys!

Did you call JBL Pro and try to order them directly?

No, I did not try that. I was under the impression that JBL would not sell direct to the public. Or if they did, they would want full retail pricing for the parts.

Or if they did, they would want full retail pricing for the parts.Of course they will charge you retail.

I am always pretty damned happy that they bother to sell parts to us in the small quantities we need. They are always very reasonable on shipping and handling and they get the orders out quite promptly as long as the item isn't on back order. They do not sell all parts to end users though, so you should call (818) 894-8850 and find out.

The site specifically says they will sell the end-user certain items:

To place an order for Misc. Parts (handles, corners,

networks, logos, etc.) Please contact Parts Administration direct at (818) 894-8850.

Thank you.

In another thread I wrote about how I was able to purchase foam tweeter damping rings and some odd tweeter-screen o-rings direct and at prices that were retail but MUCH lower than what JBL Consumer wanted for the same parts! http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=210017#post210017
It's worth a try. I found the guys on the phone at Pro knew what they were talking about and really wanted to help. On the other hand, the lady I spoke to on the Consumer side in NY really was only quoting whatever her documents said and even agreed that often they were more expensive than the same part from California JBL.

Hey John,

Did you ever look into this further? I am curious what you found. This CMCD looks to be quite interesting since they solved one of the harder aspects of DIY, the phase plug and rear chamber.
