Altec 604C mounting question

I am thinking of a 604 omni directional diy.

Does anyone know if mounting this driver face up is safe? I don't want to cause damage to it as I will be having them re-coned before I can try this.

Well the question is how much cone mass and how stiff is the suspension?? That would determine how much sag would there be. Don't know sounds like a potential Great Plains Audio question. I am assuming they would be who is doing the recones??
