I shipped a pair of mint 077s to Italy on Jan 21, 2004 and they still haven’t arrived. (See the details here (http://www.pogeyrealestate.com/personal/JBL077/index.htm)).
After waiting eleven weeks for the package to arrive, I filed the appropriate paperwork with the USPS. The claims representative at the USPS said the Italian mail system “is the worst” to deal with. She said she now has to write/submit the documentation to New York, and New York makes the official inquiry to Italy and waits for a response. She claimed that could take months. She said that the USPS won't pay until the Italians respond and formally declare that the package is missing. She said we then would file a claim.
Does anybody have any advice?
BTW, I found another article about the USPS insurance system here (http://www.lexingtoninstitute.org/postal/postalinsurance.pdf).

Jim...
Don't lose hope. I've been through this, with an amp, and it took, I believe 13-weeks. About the time I was just to refund, it arrived there.
Reassure your counter party that this comes from a reliable source (just don't tell 'em it's me... ;) ). Afterall, Rome wasn't built in a day... :rotfl:

I had the same situation sending some drivers to Holland. When we finally gave up they arrived.
Good luck!

I sent some E145's to Hong Kong USPS ground (4 - 6 weeks) in September that, as far as I know, have not made it yet. Because of that, I will not ship internationally unless the buyer is willing to pay USPS Global Express (EMS) rates. Your items will get to most destinations in 3 - 5 days and there is tracking. It is expensive, however. I shipped a D130 to Australia recently. The package weighed 19 lbs. Shipping and insurance was $100.

I received 2 pcs 2235H within exactly 6 weeks with USPS Economy (USA to Germany). I heard tales that this can take double that time. Since them I try to use USPS Airmail parcel post. As a European I can easy think of the italian post to be the worst to deal with

These delays have nothing to do with the french or italian post office. USPS has a deal for European delivery of their small packages with schmucks known as GLS, subsidiary of UK's Royal Mail (privatized). Those incompetent cretins with broken arms have no organization, and are slow as hell. Packages commonly take 4-6 even 8 weeks from the US to be delivered to France.

Hi DKORN!
Do you mean the parcels I'm waiting for since the 15th of march, the 3rd of april and the 10th of april (I'm an obstinate man)are still not here because of diversion of my parcels via UK postage? I have to take parcel once or twice to a GLS office ,but I did not think they were involve in these outrageous delays.:bash:

All stuff shipped thru USPS to Europe goes to Germany, then to local GLS agents. Packages will take like 5 or 6 days to get to Europe, then it's the big black hole, until it resurfaces... Call your local gls rep and shout. Then, write a letter of complaint to USPS to urge them to quit using GLS:
