In taking apart a 2x15" Fender Bassman enclosure I found it had been loaded with 2 Altec 803a speakers. I'm sure it did not come this way and I know these speakers have been in there for at least 25 years that I have had the cabinet. The cones seem fine however the surround has dry rotted and is very brittle. Could someone tell me what these speakers are worth? I saw a set on ebay and this guy was asking $1999 buy it now:blink:.

What should I do with them? I'm sure they dont belong in the Bassman cabinet. Also they are rated @ 12 ohms, can anyone guess what they came out of?

Run them up the ebay flagpole and see who salutes them.

OH!!! . . . . multiple threads. I guess you're afraid nobody will see your post. If you look at the right-hand side of the screen you'll see a column marked "Views." If there have been views and no responses, that means people have read your post and didn't think they had anything to say to you.

Why not just put them on ebay?

If you want to sell them here, find the Market Place forum. Include photos and a price.

I think they're worth about $50-75 each as cores to be reconed. You're right, they don't belong in a guitar cab--they're hi fi speakers--and have been destroyed with misuse.

$1500 huh? Are yours in pristine, excellent condition?
Are they well maintained and above average?
Are they beat up and falling apart.
If so, they are typical beaters and worth just a fraction of what a good set is worth ...
Just post good pictures of yours on ebay and see what folks wanna spend ... THAT is the test of what they are worth!

Isn't this the same question you already asked at:

Probably 150-200 bucks each. They were the early version of the 416 and are reconeable as such. They were used in early A7s for theater use and also in bass reflex boxes for home use. Good speakers.
