Having tried out/used vacuum tube amps for quite a while now, over a year for the top end of the 4343's with really pleasing results, I felt confident this could be something to try with big woofers too. Might even tri-amp later, however I've got two monoblocks recently, my very first Altec Lansing gear. They're probably better known as cinema amps, @ 80watt/each. The second one is lying face down behind the unit in front, on spacers.

Once again WAF might be not the best but I like that green (didn't it inspire Shindo?) and with the glow of 8 EL34 they look nicer in the evening :) and man they sound stunning in a first setup already, totally different league to what they replace. Thought I'd share a first impression here, perhaps the one or other is familiar with them and inclined to comment? Always open for thoughts to get the best out of these.

Those bring back memories. I had a pair about 15 years ago. They are not bad, as-is. I found the weakest part of them was the output transformer. These are very good Peerless items for their intended purpose, but lacking in the high and low frequency extremes for high fidelity purposes.

I ended up mounting a couple of Acrosound TO-330's on mine.
