Hi,

I've been given a pair of JBL EON 10 G2 active speakers and have found that one them has a faulty driver. The driver assembly is an all-in-one cast surround which sits inside the shell of the speaker itself, but on searching i cannot find anywhere that can supply a replacement. Does anyone have any information regarding these speakers and whether it is possible to replace the driver unit ( everything else works perfectly ).

I found this link which gives a exploded view of the speaker, the part i require is listed on there as:

BAF/Cone Assy
EON10-G2LF

and is on page 3.

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi. Page four of the pdf shows exploded view from rear, 2412H driver mounts to back of baffle/horn assembly. If you're not hearing the highs, open that and check if the voice coil (attached to diaphragm) is open (broken.)

One of my brothers has some of those for club dates.

But I never had to look inside.
:)

EDIT: just found this info you will have to check further re: replacement diaphragms:
http://audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=63535&postcount=3
which above poster said were not available at that time.
I'd call:

The HF driver is screw on type, turn counter-clock wise, disconnect the wires first. The driver is a 2412H, JBL does not make a replacement diaphragm for this driver. A new driver from JBL is about $90, there are some after market diaphragms out there you can find them with Google. I have not tried any of the after market ones so I can't give any opinion on them. The EON10G-2 has a low freqrency recone kit. The woofers frame/motor is integral to the front baffle.

The aftermarket 2412H(-1) diaphragms have a plastic voice coil mounting that holds heat in longer than the stock aluminum unit....they will fail faster..since plastic heat sinks aren't very useful.
