The 811B is a horn, and has no bug screen. You need to ask for directions to remove the screen in the particular driver you have mounted on the 811B.

Of course, silly me the drivers are 802-8g.

Thanks,Rob.

i would check over on hostboard...

using the key words "screen removal" from that site you'll come up with ~6 threads...

I had seriously considered doing this to my JBL drivers, but each time I do, the thought of safety for the driver trumps any potential sonic benefits.

Still, it does represent an obstruction and source of internal defraction, so doesn't seem like it could have any sonic benefit (and maybe a sonic detriment).

Yes, over on hostboard there are some links that provide more insight. I did remove mine. The technique I used was an extremely sharp exacto knife. I carefully slit the screen and then I used a pair of needle nose pliers to carefully pull out the screen. Using non-magnetic instruments would be superior. I had a few cloths and a light vacuum set up to remove all vestiges of debris...I think I had a few long cue-tips that I used to use to clean my old Scully tape deck heads with. It could be a disaster if you are not careful...so be careful! For some folks, the best way to remove the screens might be to send the drivers down to Bill at GPA and have him do it. But good luck! I think it's been for me a positive effort...and at higher volumes will be where I think you will notice the improvement.
