Due to my age and downsizing, I am going to sell my vintage 70's equipment along with my 4435's due to thier size. I will be going with surround amp, but wanting a smaller speaker that I can carry by myself, without going overboard in the $ department. Thinking about 4410's
or 4408's any other options you all might think of??
Thanks in advance.

the 12" 3 ways tend to work better - and the 4410 / 4412 are the same size box.

What are your (now) size limitations??

If you'll accept the opinion of a neophyte: I have a pair of 4412As that I play next to a pair of L5s and swap back and forth. I've convinced myself I like the L5s better. According the the spec sheets, the L5 is only seven-pounds heavier shipping weight than the 4412A. It's actually a bit easier to carry since it seems that's something you consider important. At a common selling price of under $300 a pair, the L5 might be something you'd be interested in auditioning, if you can get over the black finish! At least it's better than the vinyl veneer of the 4408/4410/4412A series. But then you probably want the wood finish of the non-A 4410/12 series anyway.

I don't even consider the dollar-value when I'm A-B'ing my JBLs, since I paid under $200 for the 4412As, $200 for the L5s, $200 for the L7s. The L5 is an outstanding, under-appreciated bargain. You could use some L1s for rears in your surround system as a good match, they're not very pricey, either.

That all being said, I can't imagine you won't regret the 4435s and I'm sorry to hear they'll have to go.

I think it's obvious that you need to take a road trip to the C'Ville/H'burg area, and you can audition BMWCCA's stuff and my 4333As/L100s/L110s/L46s/HP420s/etc.

I was wondering when we'd hear from you again, hope you're doing well. I was still considering a Wytheville road trip, we'll see if that pans out. Let me know if you've still got some cymbal stands kicking around, I may be handing some of mine down to a friend's kid & I'll need to pick up a few.

I had the 4408s for a while, and liked them for their size. The 035Tis were a touch brighter than my L100s and L46s, not quite the extension on the 2405s in the 4333As. Different but not so much better than the 033s in my L110s, to my ears. Much easier to find & replace if they blow, though.

I have said it before...

I really do appreciate the sound of my L110's.

Very nice to my ears. Nice size and scale.

Are you sure this is what you want to do, is it need to do?

Scotty.

Not what I want to do Scotty, but GOD they are big and HEAVY. I have them mounted on casters, but still hard to move and lift if I ever have to relocate.
