Welcome!

Why do you want to modify the crossover?
The 4344MK2 is already charge coupled and has a great crossover.

Hello magma

You might want too see how they have the capacitors set-up in Everest 2. They use a mix of electrolytic and polypropylene. You are going to go broke changing out all the caps especially in the woofers and 2123 crossover.

Hello Magma,

did you really achieve an improvement with mundorf caps?
I often use Mundorf caps myself but mainly use Intertechnik Audyn caps bypassed with 0,1uF Intertechnik Audyn KPSN caps. This gives the best sound/price ratio.

Rob is right. You might have to use electrolythics too if you want to keep the original PCB's. I'm not sure that the C1 at woofer board is an MKP.

Magma,

Hello......

Capacitors are like wine.

"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. We should no more let numbers define audio quality than we would let chemical analysis be the arbiter of fine wines. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment.." (Nelson Pass)

Yes I used Mundorf Silver/Gold and Oil in my JBL's.

With suitable complimentry equipment they are worthwhile.

Money is irrelevant in this context.

What's in the 4344Mk11 is a charge-coupled network.

Pm me if you wish to discuss further.

Whys that?? They use NPE's in the CC 4344MK2 crossover. Might want to try to learn something from how NPE's were implimented the Everest 2. They are not in all sections. Gives you a more reasonable upgrade path.

The reality is magna would be better served paying good money for a nice active crossover and biamp, then look at the rest of the network.

Hi Magma,

My 4344MKII's are bi-amped and I think it's the greatest improvement I have done.

But if you want to go further, you gan get a part from Harman Japan for filter replacement so that you could use quadri active amplification.

Hi, is there anybody able to enlight about the recommended " official " crossover frequency to use when you go active bi-amping with the 4344 MK2 ?

You might find some info here

or even here ;):

http://manuals.harman.com/JBL/HOM/Technical%20Sheet/4344MkII%20ts.pdf

Tech Sheet indicates 340Hz, but I assume that's "as implemented passively" as opposed
to what you might need/want to set for biamping to approximate the voltage drive
... appears to be a 12dB/oct-ish roll off.

Here's another useful link with some discussion:
http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?24283-4344-Mk-II-network

Not sure also if that 340Hz is written in stone when you go active. 250-350Hz, depending on the crossover model is suitable for my 3145 networks.

Glad to hear from you.
Happy B-Day Caladois.
