Recently, I picked up a pair of JBL L65 Jubals ... the cabinets and the grill covers were in excellent condition ... the woofers (126A) needed refoaming ... the SNs are 21491 and 21496.

When were the Jubals first offered for sale by JBL? ... 1974? ... how long were they for sale with the original woofers? ... what was the MSRP per speaker?

I read a bunch of Jubal threads ... and checked the price lists in the Library ... but couldn't find the answers.

Hi, guys....

Well, the $1250./pair price may be accurate for the L65A's or B's, but in 1975, the L65 sold for $425.00 each, and I got my pair for that price as an employee. Oh, the joy of working for JBL!! :)

Mine are 126A woofers. There was one heck of a price jump in '76-'77 though. :( Prices are shown in the Lansing heritage page library, by the way.

Ummm, Phil.......?

"the L65A was First Manufactured 1977 and Last Manufactured 1976"

So thats why "A" models are soo rare ??

I'd go for the "B", they are $56 cheaper than the elusive "A"....:)

why repeat something thats "obviously not right" ??Just to piss you off?

I did offer it as a quote from JBL, not my own opinion or recollection, or as gospel according to Craig's List or Wikipedia. Screw it, delete the post! I never liked the Jubal anyway. ;) What a stupid name. I wonder why Klipsch didn't steal the concept and market a speaker named PeWK? For all I know those Klipsch-o-files might call their favorites Wilburs.

Doesn't "piss me off" , just clouds future posts, and I don't think you are a guy who should be discounted like that.

actually Wikipredia is a great source. It is continually challenged, modified and refined and accuracy is their goal. It is probably a better reference than the schoolbooks that we grew up with..:)

Why the Klipsch rant ? Haven't seen a thread with that name here for a long time.

Jubal ?? JBL has also used names like ...Harkness...Carnival...Verona...Minuet...Caprice ..Radiance...Dorian....

Radiance..?? now there IS a speaker worthy of a rant. Just attempted to work on one. The drivers were GLUED in, no screws. :(

I remember selling a college buddy of mine a nice new pair of Jubals, only to find six months later he traded them in on a pair of La Scala's!!

Very disappointing. I gave him a very good deal on them.

I made the Klipsch reference because it's obvious to me the Jubal name was simply an attempt at making James B's initials into a word. PWK (Puke) seemed to fit well given that derivation. That's all. Some of my best friends own Klipsch, lots of them. Even some tower with a side-firing sub with built-in amp. One amp's dead though. Still thumps.

I'm not following this thread closely enough to reply intelligently right now. I'm moving one daughter from a dorm to her first apartment (in NYC, home of all the 4350s for sale in the world right not it would seem), another (90 miles from the other )from her dorm to home for the summer, then back to see the first one graduate on Friday.
