We've all seen some amazing drivers in this forum and some of them are trully worthy of an award of some sort. With that in mind I would like to propose the following award to acknoledge these achievements.

I was thinking of......
The Golden Transducer Award!
Or the Golden Transmogrified Transducer Award
or whatever we all come up with for this highly coveted award.

The Golden_ _ _ _ _ _Award may be bestowed for UNREMARKABLE, UNUSUAL OR HILARIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS OR LACK/HACK THEREOF in the field of transducers/etc.
Anyone can nominate a candidate (only one per day per member please, Just joking :D).
Any nomination may be challenged or vetoed in which case an appeal may be filed and the case will be reviewed by a unanimously appointed panel and get back to us with their findings/results/verdict.

In this spirit I would like to nominate JBL Dog's "Who says all the good stuff is in Cali?" for the first ever Golden _ _ _ _ _ Award!

The "golden turd " award....

The only thing that can beat a two bandaid driver is ... a three bandaid driver.

Suggestion duly noted :D
(BTW the two bandaid driver is the award, hence the goldeness) :rotfl: :D

Can't find the classic red baboon's butt picture, but here's another winner- where's that recent one that looked like they used pasta as surround material?:

Shouldn't this thread be in the DIY forum?

Analog Addict, Classic my friend, absolutely classic! That is quite a cluster, what the hell did they put on those drivers, looks like frosting!:rotfl: What the hell is the stuff on the middle left picture???????

Mr. Sanford! what can I say, what did they use on that first entry, just some sponge filling/wheather stripping?

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:Those Babbon's Ass surrounds are killing me! what model are (oops)were those speakers I wonder.

:applaud: great stuff guys, you made my day, I'd love to know what these sound like  :D

You are absolutely right Rob, credit must be given, maybe in the future we can contact them and let them know that unbeknownst to them they have received an award for their creativity, I think they would appreciate it :)

Hi Dave, that would be fine, the Mods are welcome to move it where they deem appropriate.

Dunno what the Baboons were, what they are now is "NEW AND IMPROVED!"

Found the Noodles, too...

Krunchy, you ever get over to visit Scott again? Did you see his latest creation? I think you'd like it, maybe even enough to give it a Major Award.

I spoke to him last thursday and he'll have all my pieces ready very soon, he resoldered all the connections on the Fender Twin and replaced all the tubes :bouncy: . I may take a camera to see if there are any nominees. Though his stuff is actually really creative, plus the surrounds are intact :D, its just the enclosures that are "unusual".

BTW Id love to know what those noodle surrounds are.

Here's his latest project- sort of a "statement" piece, letting you know what he thinks of MP3 sound quality. The ad will read:

"Stick your I-Pod in my toilet. Trust me, it will sound better."

P.S. the flush handle is the volume control, amps are in the tank...

for most of my life we've had table radios in the bathrooms, keyed to the switched a/c ...but technology rolls on....shudda patented the idea.:)

I suggested one of those shaggy seat covers, preferably with a smily face :) design on it. You know, to reduce high freq. diffraction off the surface of the lid, and stop the seat rattling from bass. Functional, yet fashionable.

Is actually weather-stripping that can be purchased at a variety of places. The “three-cell” type is pictured above.

This modifier certainly deserved a Major Award. Then, a severe beating.

Those had been L110s at one time, dunno if they sold or not- I couldn't watch, too sad.

My L110s were in pretty sad shape when I fished 'em out of a garbage pail- they had one bare JBL 10" frame and one Radio Shack 10" subwoofer in them. Cabs very dry and very scratched. Pics will follow soon, they're getting better every day, it's only taken me 8 years or so. Anybody know where to source that sheer grille cloth? Then, I'd be pretty set.

je

Krunchy, didja ever get to hear the Toidy IPod dock?

"It has been tested and works fine. Both sides were treated with tape and cement. Recone if you like but as is works fine."
