Hello, I am an inheritor of a teak set of 250ti's. These have been kept in immaculate condition by the previous owner but! the Lf surrounds have turned to dust as seems to be a problem with these things. Can someone direct me to someone who can repair the surrounds at a reasonable price, or what are the new standards for repair/ replacement.

Thanks in advance.:bouncy:

By inheritor, were these free or are you the second owner? Either way, you are in for a real treat!

What kind of amp/preamp setup do you have?

Pictures would be a nice treat.

Well, since the person who owned them before me ( a good friend of mine) isn't actually deceased, I guess you could say they are free. the speakers are still at his house but I will take some. Can you be of any assistance on my topic?

If appropriate, my condolences for your loss.

There is a bright side though, you've inherited one of the finest examples of JBL consumer products. I hope you intend to keep them and enjoy them.

Please do register them in the LHS datebase registry

Be patient, someone here will chime in with a repair offer...

my setup will be somewhat unorthodox for you guys, I have a recording studio and plan to use these as reference monitors. using a Mackie M800 800 watt per channel amplifier.

I wouldn't let these things out of my site for a minuite. I heard the 1812 overture played on these through a Hafler 500. It was amazing to say the least, and that still isn't a fair assessment.

Congratulations on getting one fine pair of speakers and welcome to the forum! I would highly recommend forum member "Edgewound" if you want them repaired correctly! There are probably authorized JBL repair stations closer to where you live, Edge is in Southern California, but I and others here can vouch for his great work! Shoot him a PM and I'm sure he will get back to you soon. Oh, I would suggest you don't crank them with that 800 watt amp until you get those surrounds fixed! You could, if you haven't already, do some serious damage to them which can cost some long $$$ to repair. Hopefully you can get away with just the surrounds being repaired? Edge can give you all the details, options and costs.

Only valid if you heard the LP version that has the live cannon shot and the TT tracked it... :-)

Well, Just so happens it was the album version if I remember correctly, and as far as the cannon fire.....................WOW!

AFAIK, only the Telarc pressing had the virtually untrackable live cannon fire track that actually had 90* grooves.

Welcome 1badtele,
As far as fixing the woofers, if affordable I would wait for these to become ava. from JBL

336321-001 http://www.harmanaudio.com/images/pixel/trans_pixel.gif Woofer http://www.harmanaudio.com/images/pixel/trans_pixel.gif $285.52
http://www.harmanaudio.com/search_browse/partlist.asp?BrandId=JBL&MarketId=HOM&Parts=1400%20ARRAY%20BG

This is the LE14H-3 woofer it will work as a direct replacement. They pop up ava. from JBL on a regular basis and this swap out has been discussed here on a regular basis.

Please post pics of your new toys for we all love to l@@k.

;)
