I have the possibility to buy the only Altec 9844A speakers from Romania. One enclosure come with no woofers.
So...a pair of Altec 414-16B woofers,a pair of 811-B horns and a pair of 806A compresion drivers.
The main concern is about the glue on the dustcap from woofers.I attached some pics.
I listen music on my DIY open baffle and maybe if you could advice me about the glue issues on the dustcap (that's look ok to you?).Also I wonder if you know something about these glued dust caps on some Altec woofers on periods of time manufacturing.

Do you think will worth to buy that Altecs comparing with my open baffles?...at list from a first view?Any experiences will be apreciated.
The price is 300$ for 2 woofers,2 horns and 2 copresion drivers including xover.
Thanks.

It looks OK to me. I've seen neater, but there's lots sloppier too.

Other than the imperfect glue line around the dome, they look pretty good. The vent hole in the dome is typical Altec...releases back pressure and vents out heat from the voice coil.

If they sound good and everything works fine, it seems to be a pretty good buy. Altec compression drivers alone routinely go for $300/pair in the US.:)

Thanks a lot.
Another question is in my mind....:)
What enclosure do you think will suited well for a single 12" Altec 414-16B?
I'm thinking on "Jensen" -Onken,but maybe is another good choices for that...
What do you think?

go to diyaudio.com and search for petite onken.

also could search this (LHF) site for onken ... mixed reviews with this cab, IIRC:
