Hi all,

I am in the process of building a single 4435 for a center channel to compliment an existing pair.

I need to mod a 4430 xover to handle the additional woofer - which seems to be a relatively simple swap and addition of a few components.

My questions are:

Anybody know if the components (the coil in particular) are available from JBL?

And, is the xover circuit board (sans components) the same for both the 4430 and the 4435? A quick glance at the 4430 xover board shows some unused areas for additional components – suggesting this is probably the case.

Thanks.

The 4435 crossover has many different parts than the 4430 even though the crossover board and horn/driver are the same. The HF attenuation and L/C selection are designed to match better with the mass ring-less 2234 instead of the 2235.

I happen to have an oddball 4435 crossover that I picked up from JBL's sale in 1997....

Whatcha got to swap??

The caps and resistors should be easy to acquire. The 2 coils (JBL refs L101 and L2) might be harder to duplicate - unless JBL still stocks replacements. On the other hand, your "oddball" would pose the easiest solution. I do have a pair of these 4430 xovers which I would be happy to trade for your one. If that doesn't appeal to you, give me an idea what your looking for.

Why don't you just build a 4430 for your center:hmm:?
