View Full Version : JBL Control 24CT and 26CT: Bypass transformer

Is it possible to bypass the transformer on the Control 24CT and 26CT? The reason I ask is that they seem alot easier to come by on ebay than the 24C and 26C but I plan on hooking them up to a Home Theater and not a 70V system.

I -believe- you should be able to unattach or cut the transformer secondaries
(the pair of wires going to the speaker(s) from the transformer, and just wire in there directly.
The transformer leads should not remain wired in-circuit.

I don't know how hard it would be to pop one of those open (or if it would be worthwhile)...
I'd guess they would be then 16ohm systems, as are the 24C/26C, but not have the overload protection
of those models.
