I have Altec Santiago with drivers and crossovers re-done to original specs....would there be an advantage in bi-amping them with the active crossover?

Hello prcinka

Did you just had them done?? Live with them a little first.

Rob:)

No,these are about a year after the re-do, so I think well cocked. The sound is great! I just have the crossover ready for my other project speakers( the xpl 200a's), so I was thinking....

I think you should if you've got the funds. I think it will be a whole new experience, at least it was for me in 1975, when I tri-amped my Altec 414s, 806/811, & EV T350.

You will get better sound because the amp will be connect directly your woofer without seeing all of the inductors, capacitors, and resistors and you will see the full damping of the woofer.

It will also double you amplifier power, ie if you have a 100watt/ch and 25watt/ch amp, you will end up with the effective power of 250watts/ch.
