Paragon question

Has anyone built Paragons from plans and components available? Or is there a company doing so?

Perhaps a model slightly updated/modified for better overall performance?

Yes i,ve built two Paragons from JBL plans... Its no easy feat,,, You couldnt tell the difference from factory or mine..I alse have a JBL unit in storage....You have to make a special jig to form the curved panel... This is not stated in the JBL instruction plans....Carving the legs is best done by rifle woodstock carver..Plus forming any mettle parts.

The horn of the compression driver should have the mouth area doubled (same length).
It is a good idea to let the woofer work on a smaller area (care for changed efficiency).
Use a compression driver which makes the tweeter obsolete.

If you use a TAD 4001 driver you wont need the 075 tweeter:D

Bacause it only cost me $500. to build the cabinets... I allready had the speaker components and xovers.

An updated (performance wise) unit with the same look IMO would be a great tribute to the original.

If I had the $$ and facilities, I might tackle this - great input so far on this. :D

I remember listening to a Paragon in a showroom powered by Marantz components back in the late 60s and not being terribly impressed by its sound. :blink: Liked the 001 system much better! :applaud:
