I need some expert advice. Since it's impossible to find 050TIJ diaphragm/membranes for my 250 Jubilee, my JBL dealer told me i could replace them with 035TI or 035TIA.

They say they also come in gold colour.

Is this a smart move at all? Is there any difference in the sound. Would I loose any "quality"

My last option is to by a complete set of 050TIJ which will cost me a great deal of money :-)

Any input is more than welcome.
Best

Do you want to restore your speakers?
Or do you want to save money?

The 250ti Jubilee tweeters can only be replaced completely. No dias available.
The tweeters are expensive.

Another option is to buy nice looking ebay spares as most here do. Problem is that you can't see the inside of these ebay "bargains". You will probably end again looking for tweeters when the ebay stuff is finally cooked.

Whatever...

You can replace them with 035Tis. Don't worry about the colour. It does nothing with the sound. A jubilee with 035Tis is no longer a jubilee though.
Oh, the 035Tis are also expensive.
But then there is ebay.... :p

Thanks for the input Guido.
Do you mean that the 035Ti is not same quality as 050TIJ?
The good thing with 035Ti is that i can get just the dias for a low cost.

Of course do I want the best for my speakers :-)

The 035Ti is an excellent tweeter as the 050Ti is. They are just not the same and the crossovers for these 2 babies are also not the same.

I'm almost sure the 035 dias won't fit the 050 tweeters.

PM me with your 050ti offer. I'll see what I can do for you.
Please understand, I offered many rare JBL spare to forum members and finally needed to learn that there are many wal marters out there. Their JBL "love" ends rapidly when it comes to paying.
People must understand that JBL and not we dealers makes the spare parts prices.

But as said, there is ebay :p

I don't think the hole spacing is the same on the 050 and the 035. I will take a look when I get home and throw some pictures up, If you want to go with the 035's you may want to look at the 052's instead. Current in the 4400 monitor series and much more reasonable.

thanks for the tip Rob.
What kind of tweeter is 052?
And my question still is if the 035 is not same sound qulaity as the 050. Maybe you know?

The 035 and 052 are interchangeable. The mounting holes align and the diameter of the plastic mounting plates are the same. The 050 Gold has a metal mounting plate and is slightly smaller. The mounting holes do not line up with the 035/052. From what I am seeing here you can't just drop an 035/052 into a tight hole for an 050 Gold.

The quick connect connectors are different sizes between the 035 and the 050/052.

We saw in another thread that the L250 Jubilee used an 050 tweeter with a Gold diaphram kit. The 050's Golds I have are for the Century Gold so they may not use the same mounting plate.

Nothing is ever easy:banghead:

I am using an L20T3 as my testing cabinet.

They are different.

Why people always insist on swapping drivers?
I mean what is a price difference of 100 or 200 USD between the intended drivers and some "maybe replacements" when you can have your speakers again stock ??

Please someone explain.

I could'nt imagine not going stock or upgrading. Perhaps its just me ,but I think i would be always questioning my decision as I sat a tried to listern to my NON STOCK investment. Buy NEW STOCK and stop messing with the design.
GT new what he was doing ! If a cheaper tweet would have worked , I'm sure the money men at JBL would have applied pressure !
