Hello,

In Holland a pair of L112's are offered on Dutch Marketplace. Unfortunately one midrange and one tweeter broke down. Would it be wise to buy these speakers for a small amount. I mean is there any change to get the broken speakercomponents fixed or replaced again.
The speakers look gorgeous and i wonder what has happened to this good looking L112's.
Please let me have your comments.

With kind regards,

Jan Slagman

They bring anywhere from $250 to over $500 for a pair here in the USA in good condition and the 044s go anywhere from $20 for a single to $80 or so for a really nicely turned out un-tarnished example. I've stock-piled a couple of spares since I own a pair of L112s and L150As, yet in over twenty years I've never blown a tweeter (ample power helps). A single LE5-12 shouldn't be too expensive, either, and you can also substitute the LE5-10 for it as an acoustically identical replacement. It all depends on how "small" that amount is and how much you want a pair of L112s. (I'm quite fond of mine but I've owned them since new.)

Good luck. Pictures?

I love my L112's (both pair)

Buy them. Make sure they're a mirrored pair, they came L/R.

Fix them.

Enjoy them.

I've never blown a JBL driver. Clean abundant power is the key. Vintage Yamaha Amps rule.

044 and LE5-12 are fairly common on fleabay, finding an 044 that isn't corroded, and an LE5-12 with undented domes and black (not browned) cone requires some careful watching. The 128H LF driver is a bass monster.

The LE5-10 and LE5-12 are noted by JBL as acoustic equivalents. The difference is cosmetic; the -10 is all black painted, the -12 has a brushed aluminum facia.

If you look at the cones used in the various LE drivers you can get an idea of what is compatible and exchangeable.

I don't think appearance is a good indicator of compatibility. One needs to look at the tech sheet for the replacement and, in the case of the LE5, the matrix sheets here on LH.

The matrix is what i was referring to.
