I recently picked up four of these that were in a guitar speaker cabinet. I'm just wondering if anyone knows any history/value of these speakers. I did find the 414A tech sheet and it looks similar with a different basket. I am probably going to use two in a 2x12 cab because they sound pretty good. Not sure about the other two...

Well, they're hi fi speakers (and good ones), not MI, unless they've been reconed with a 417 cone (I'm not even sure that's possible). If they are in good shape, and what you really want is guitar speakers, I would suggest you ebay them and buy the guitar speakers you want.

The 414 -16Z was used in pairs in a few Altec models (9844, malibu and carmel, I think), and that is probably where those came from. You could post them here with photos, on the Lansing Products Market forum. You need to show the fronts so people can know whether the accordian surround dope has run because of being stored in the heat.

interesting, some high end guitar speakers have alnico magnets i think. I'll be getting rid of all of them then. close up on one of the cones...

I'll probably stick with 12" speakers. I'll throw em up on ebay or here when I get some time to take more pictures.
