one 4344 built - poor sound... !

Well I have finished the RHS of the pair of 4344's I’m building. Sound is, well; quite disappointing..... Resembles the tonal qualities expected of a home series L100T muffled by a piece of 5mm cardboard.

p.s. I think the purple patch on the top left was caused by the 'JBL Blue' cartridge in my HP DeskJet nearly running out of ink.

What's the reason you built just one? Usually when building something loke a pair of studio monitors one would be working on two at a time, saving tons of labor compared to going back and doing it all over again in order to get the second one of a pair. Just wondering.
Also, I believe the purple blotch in your photo is from an optical internal reflection from the strobe.
