Im preparing to bid on a Nad 208 to replace my Hafler500 for my 250ti classics.
I need the power.
1st question. How much would you all spend??
2nd question. Is this the best value for the money when you factor the given availability of items in this price range?

Thanks and Happy Holidays

Will ya take 5? lol. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

No, it's not mine. I just saw it floating in the Bay and wondered if it was the one you were considering. The prices for these as they come up on Ebay is all over the place. I think I've seen them hit over a grand to nearly twice that.

For what kinda money is this amp my best bet. Im actually hoping to keep it under a grand. Wishful thinking I know!

December's a rough time of year for discretionary purchases other than gifts. Many fall on hard times with property taxes due, etc. I find big-ticket items to usually drop in November and December. A great time for purchasing cars and motorcycles. Maybe that will hold true for your amp desires. I'm not familiar enough with the high-end NAD stuff to say what it's worth. "Alex, I'll take '400-watt Crowns' for $100." (That's a timely Jeopardy TV show reference.)

I passed the Nad208 at $760. Seems like it would quickly leave me wanting again.
400 watt Crown referral from a senior member has a much nicer ring to it. Crown you say?

Such as which model/price range??
I just gota have more for these 250ti.
I just lovem.

$760? You must be counting shipping! The one in the link I posted sold for $715

I'm pretty sure there are quite a few of us here happy with our Crown DC300A Series-II or PS-400 amps and I should let the more-knowledgeable respond. I also can't speak to your system's requirements, nor do I have any modern amps for comparison, but the PS-400 is rated by Crown for 190 watts per channel at 8-ohms. Or bridged, 660w @ 8-ohms. I paid $103 for the last one I bought in perfect condition, but I've paid twice that and doubt I'd sell one for any less, if at all. Some have brought up to $700 (I saw it myself. It was from an ex-Crown-employee and was, uhmm, well-marketed!) on Ebay. $200 or a bit more should buy one. Due to their bulk they don't seem to fetch much more than the smaller PS-200, and shipping can be a bear so they need to be packed well. There are also several rough ones at auction right now with listings starting at $300, $375, and package of two for $600. They won't get any bids at that price in that condition.
