What wide dispersion or CD horns are available for 1.5" throat compression drivers like the 2435?

I see that the 2352 provides a 90 x 50 dispersion pattern. They are supposed designed exclusively for the 2447 and 2451 drivers with 4" VCs.

I sent the following to JBL Pro service. Should I have any expectation of a response? ;-)

We’d like to make a wide dispersion or CD horn for our 2435HPL drivers. Can you provide the following:

- optimum flare rate of the horn
- recommended throat area

These will be used in a home theater application.
We’d prefer to keep the mouth under 12” diameter.
Would a tractrix horn be suitable?

Any response would be greatly appreciated :-)

I use the Meyer UPA-1 horn for my HT. It is specified as a 1.4" with
coverage of 80 by 40 degrees. It is an early example of a CD type of
horn. I believe they called it a modified radial design. I am using them
with the Meyer 1401 compression drivers and MS-12 woofers and they sound
quite remarkable in a HT application. They are acceptable for
multi-channel music, but I prefer my other speakers for two channel.

You should check these out - I use them for the "show" installations and the horns are well-behaved.

They are easy to flush into a baffle for that custom look!

Wow only $63 that is very reasonable. The Meyer horns I am using cost twice that.

Giskard, did you check to see if they are available?

Isn't this the horn that Don mentioned had problems going down to 1K?

hey there.

I use the 2332 for a variety of projects - they will go to 1K BUT the use of a 24db slope is required.

If you are looking for a super quiet crossover, I have a couple of the ASC24 analog crossovers designed for the array series ( and this horn! ) No digital noise here....:)

You can't beat them for the size + price AND they are not *plastic* like the others. The sister model 2333 ( 60 degree ) is the same footprint and the stage monitor version allows rotatable mounting.
