Does this belong to anyone here ? It looks familiar. It was in a room in the CES. Not sure where or when.

I wasn't at CES but those baby-butt horns certainly look familiar. I believe they're 2360s and would be typically mated to 2445 2" compression drivers.

The lower cabinets do not look like any JBL product I've ever seen. I'll bet the system would sound great if I were about 40 ft. away, too. I can't imagine what they would sound like in that small a room.

Cheers,

Those horns are 40X90 just like MANY smaller JBL horns. They function just fine in small rooms ( but have a very low SAF ).

Just because they are bigger does not mean they need to be appreciated at a greater distance, it's just that they have a LOWER crossover point ( if you want ) AND have full pattern control on the vertical ( which the little ones do not ) at that point.

So these are actually better suited for room use since bouncing off the ceiling and floor is minimized..

And since the rest of the system is cone-driven it is safe to say they are padded down quite a bit as not to be overbearing...:)

Physics stays the same...

I had the pleasure of hearing them at my friend Bill's house in Mansfield, Ohio. They sounded nice, but too big for Bill's apartment!

I also helped load them in his apartment and out when he was done reviewing them.

They are big, awkward and heavy!!!

See here for a pic of the "motley" crew I hang with!!!

Since then, the 1812s have showcased an Accuphase E-450, my own Steve Brown-built Simple 45, Red Rock Audio Renaissance mono-blocks and the amazing KR SXI with the 50 watt Kronzilla tubes.

They're gone now, but the memory lingers...

Figures, it's several of my friends and myself!:D

We really do have a great group of audiophiles in Ohio. :p

Even if we are from the "wrong side of the tracks"!
