Been digging around JBL Pro and Consumer sites as well as LH Library and Forums to see if I could find the tech sheet for the original 4312B but all I've been able to come up with is the 4312B MKII. Did I miss the 4312B somewhere? Also, does anyone know the differences between the models? thanks!

thanks for reply, however, if you open the link you provided, you will note it is not for the 4312B and rather that it is for the original 4312 with LE25 cone tweeter, not the original 4312B with 035Ti, titanium dome tweeter. I have a pair of 4312B and they have the 035Ti dome.

I am specifically looking for the original 4312B. I have yet to find the service manual or tech sheet for the original 4312B that has the 035Ti tweeter.

Absent the tech sheet, does anyone know the difference between the 4312B and 4312B MKII?

It is also my understanding that B is the series designation as in A, B, C, etc. and does not stand for "Black" Black is usually designated as BK as in the 4312D BK :banghead:

Hi Rob, thanks for reply. I hate to be the contrarian and certainly don't necessarily enjoy correcting fellow members. Just seeking answers. ;)

It is true that my 4312B have the 104H3 as well as the 035TIA tweeter and they are black.

However, I see that the 4312A came in two versions, Walnut or Studio Black and I do not see a separate model designation for 4312A in Black:

Furthermore, it appears the 4312C came in the studio black finish with the large JBL logo on the side just as in the black version of the 4312A. You will note there is not a B designation for black.

the jbl 4312b is black vinyl version from "4312a" and no "ancient 4312"

hello

I have 4312A in black vinyl
the exact reference is : 4312 ABK (source : 1993 harman catalog)
(for the wood version : just "4312A")

OK, I'm trusting that Frenchie's reply should finally put to rest the misguided notion that the 4312B is the black version of the 4312A.

Not only does the 4312A black version carry it's own model designation (4312A BK) but the 4312A uses the 035TI tweeter while the 4312B uses the 035TIA tweeter.

Now, can we return to the original question: What is the difference between the 4312B and 4312B MKII? :banghead:

Does anyone have the spec sheet or any other JBL documentation specifically for the 4312B?

Obviously, the 4312B MKII tech sheet is already readily available.

I've wondered about the difference. I've had 4312As with logo on the side since late 80's, bought new. Last year got a good deal on 4312Bs with the black wood grain vinyl. Both sets are mirror imaged. I hooked the Bs up to compare to the As and thought they sounded different, maybe better, a little more distinct and a tad less bright. Not sure if the 4312 - 4312B Mk II spec sheet applies to the 4312Bs I have but they have the 035TIA tweeter. And the 4312B lit says it's rated at 150 watts versus 100 for the 4312A and the crossover frequency is different, 2000Hz and 5000Hz vs 1500Hz and 7000Hz for the 4312A. And the 4312B is 6 ohms vs 8 ohms for the 4312A?! Can that be right? See attached. And at some point the 4312B Mk II has the mid rotated, a la early 4312. I assume back then JBL changed things to make them better. I'll let the experts weigh in. :barf:
