Just wondering if anyone got the new James Taylor release yet and would care to review the music and DVD material.

Thanks

Gary

I picked it up yesterday and only had a chance to view the DVD so far.

I'm not sure if this is a Wal-Mart only release like the new Eagles -Long Road Out of Eden that has created quite a stir in the mucic industry.

I have always enjoyed JTs music and I enjoyed the DVD last evening but was not at all impressed with the way he has re-done many of his greats on it. Safe to say I will probably never watch the DVD again but I won't call it bad.

Hope to get a chance to listen to the music CD this evening and will report back if I do.

I do have to credit James for his longevity and he is still quite capeable of hitting some notes and strumming his guitar. For a fellow who really has seen some Fire and Rain he is doing pretty well right now.

I saw Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young this summer and was quite pleased with their concert or at least the musical performance but they have completely turned me off with their Political agenda and quite honestly, I would not support them by buying any of their future releases. Best to just spin the old LPs and not listen to their perspectives on current affairs.

I saw CSN (no Y) on Crosby's 64th birthday (last year?) and, other than Stills' voice having "aged" nowhere near as gracefully as the others, it was a great concert and my daughter really enjoyed it. I agree with most of their political stances, too, so that's not a problem for me.

BTW, I left your lovely Catskills last night around 10pm after dropping daughter #2 back at school. Coincidentally we were listening to her iPod playlist of lots of Crosby, Stills, and CSN stuff. Back in the (prettier?) Blue Ridge now. Going to see James brother, Livingston Taylor, locally in a couple of weeks. Anyone else of fan of James and Carly's son Ben's work? He's got two very good CDs out. Check him out. A better voice than James ever had at that age and he's still got decades to work on it.

I did listen to the entire CD today and all I can say is JT should have stayed home!

Same music on the CD but without the video and although he still does a nice guitar and vocals I will always feel an artist should never mess with previous success.

IMHO, not worth buying.
