Bass load Horizintally or Vertically for JBL Hartsfield??

Hello!
I heard someone actually says that the Hartsfield has made 2 different versions, one with the bass load horizontally and the other is loaded vertically. The guy claimed that the horizontal load sounds way better than the vertical load version?

He also told me both versions looks identical.

Any comments?

Unfortunately, I have never heard early version. I have always believed the early version is better than the later "simple" version. I build just a couple of Hardfields after the later plans and changed my mind.
Advantages of the later version:
Significantly larger rear chamber volume for the bass speaker
Effective horn length is greater
Horn mouth is bigger
Only 4 rather than 5 directional change in the sound guidance
Better sound guidance
