I was wondering what the difference in performce is between the JBL 2446H horn driver and the JBL 2451H/J horn driver? The 2446 lists for $732 and weights a bit over 30lbs. while the 2451 lists for $1,315 and weighs only 10 lbs. Quite a difference in cost and weight. Is the 2451 that much better or just has a different purpose?

The 2451 is a 1.5in exit driver, and uses a neodymium magnet, much lighter and smaller, for the same, if not higher flux densities.

Both drivers use Titanium diaphragms. The difference in price is due mostly to the higher cost of the 2451,s neodymium magnet.

Everyone is doing neo these days, due to the lightweight, its pretty obvious how much lighter they are.

Does one sound better than the other? I dont know, you would have to listen to both and decide for yourself. What I do know is, both drivers, on proper horns, crossed over correctly, and powered properly are excellent sounding devices.
