Hello Friends

I have found another deal on some JBL speakers. Local seller tells me they are N1200 model. From searching the N1200 seems to be only the crossover network.

I do not have any pics just yet but the cabs are just like this single speaker listed on ebay.

Can any member tell me what these are? Or are they N1200's?

The guy has a pair of them and is asking $400 cash. I will pick them up tonight and post pics.

Also what should I look for inside for original equipment?

Thanks again

George

Hi George,

welcome to the forum.

this speaker seems to ba a C34 corner horn from 1955 to 1957

Yes the N1200 is only the crossover.

Hi George,
Check the Library section catalogs. Here is a page from 1962 that shows a couple driver configurations using the N1200.

It's a standard D34001 system in Prima Vera:

C34 Rear-loaded, folded horn cabinet - Prima Vera wood finish
130A 15" Woofer
175DLH Driver/Horn/Lens
N1200 Crossover.

The main difference is that at the time that system came out, the 175DLH was simply called a "175DLH". It wasn't until we introduced the "LE" stuff that the 175 became an LE75, and I think that's when we went to the black crinkle finish on them.

Update:
Well, I'm wrong on the black crinkle finish timeline. Seems we did put out 175 drivers in black before we changed the name to LE75's. Audiobeer's C51 thread clearly shows a 175 in black.

Hello Again

Well I picked the speakers up today. Here are the pics I said I would post. I took the back off but you can't see the drivers for there closed in by more wood.

Anymore feedback on what I have found will be great. I got these from the same person that I got the Altec speakers from last August. I added the a pic of them so you guys might remember them.

So are these C34 speakers? One speakers has serial # of 107 and the other is 10749. The badges on the front do not match. also the crossover networks are both n1200 but look defferent. Both cabs match I just think one is a lot newer than the other. Am I right?

This set also has different color backs on them. Mine are the same. Hmmmm.

They sound is amazing to me. As always thanks friends.

PS. I got them for $400.

Hi All,

here's a list for the system kits

HP

Thank You and Harvey. I have been trying to find the specs on mine and there's a wealth of info here. So I gues it's safe to say I have the 04 kit.

65 chevyII.....JBLDOG has a single one like yours. Nice find! Those are sweet! The car is nice! I see you have the same garage organizer I do! :)

Harvey.......since the 04 kit is 8 ohm will the MC-30s work harder to push an 8 ohm as oppossed to a 16
ohm setup?

The C34 with the black back is the newer of the two cabinets. It' got a 001 system inside, so try it at both the 8 ohm tap and the 16 ohm tap on your Mac and see which sounds best to you. The system inside the red-backed unit was not installed at JBL.

Hi chevy,

a nice steal for 400,- congratulations.

we can tell you more, knowing the numbers of the drivers.
can you please post pics of the above named serial numbers 107 and 10749...maybe the last two digits of the 107 were lost or scratched...

I will check the #'s again. Also how do you get to the drivers? It looks like that board right inside the back is glued into place. What is the way you deal with that board in front of the drivers from the back. I see 4 screws holding it into place and what looks like glue on the edges.

I will post some pics of the numbers. But both n1200's are a different style as far as the lettering on them.

Again thanks for all the help friends

You get to the drivers by laying the C34 cabinet on its back. The grill cloth is held down at the bottom of the cabinet, which you remove by unscrewing a few screws under the bottom lip of the cabinet. This will let you pull the grill cloth up and over the top of the cabinet, moving it out of the way. Remove the wooden grill spreader bar that goes across the 130A speaker.

Now you can unscrew the entire front baffle board and lift the board (with speakers attached) out of the cabinet. The 130A and 175DLH are fastened to the baffle board with T-nuts.

Assemble in reverse.
