? on 2395 36" slant lens horn

New to the forum recently. Good info guys. Nice place to get problems answered.My question is; what would the performance and tonal quality be of a 2470 driver with the 2395 slant plate lens horn on front but with the slant plates only removed from the front? What kind of dispersion pattern would I have?Anyone tried this before. I don't have my equipment hooked up now to try it. I am currently replacing mostly capacitors in all my stuff now. Mainly Phase Linear 400 and 4000 with a 5234 biamp crossover if not using the 815 800 xovers.My other question is on the equipment serial #'s and dates being compiled. Is this only for systems or for individual components also?Thanks everyone.

JBL4ver gave me a private message that said it would be 60 horizontal and 30 vertical but did not say about the tonal difference if any. The normal pattern with plates is 145 horizontal and 45 vertical. BIG difference. I was only wondering in case I would want to reduce physical size in the house. And yes it would be the elliptical horn only. I wonder if I would still need to baffle the front too. I have used them as is in the house and they are amazing. I use the 2470 driver with 1-2" throat adapter.Thanks for the reply guys.

JBL PRO sold that horn as a stand alone horn ( 1978 -80 or so ) with the model number 4343 for a few years. We used them in flying cabinets for dance clubs with good success.

A little hot down the middle for home use though. I suggest a pair of 2382 ( 120 X 40 ) flat fronts instead.

They were dropped when the first gen bi-radials came out.

I don't have a catalog with the 2382 listed. Not sure what it is. I have some old catalogs from 77-80 with price sheets. I love the sound of those horns. I always have equalized them to smooth them out. They have been great indoors and out. I worked for a company installing pro stuff in the 70's when I got most of my stuff and saved lots of $$$$. When I get my amps back together I'll give it a try both ways. Thanks.

They used it that way on the Paragon for years, so I guess it works if you bounce it off a curved wall.
