I you're trying to market these they really need to be placed in the "Marketplace" Section of this forum.

HI
I am not trying to market these monitors.
I have no connection with Ocean Way studios.I posted the above information because I thought that members would find it interesting that a highly regarded cutting edge studio is using speaker designs from the 40's. with vintage components.

Rajiv

That's quite a package and quite a room. That SSL console is supposedly the largest of its kind in the world.

These systems are evidently being marketed by a pro division of the Guitar Center. Here is the web site:

I don't get it...

Should all the threads about Westlake products, Passlab, and other also be moved to the marketplace section?

I don't get it, either. He's clearly not selling them. I thought it was just me. :spin:

Je suis confus, aussi. Il est clair qu'il ne les vende pas.

Tristement, non.

J'ai été interviewé sur France24 par Thierry Vivier à Los Angeles.

Maybe someday I will come to your beautiful France.

And Rajiv, someday I will come to India, too.

Ocean Way is well known for for utilizing the best of vintage technology for their purposes. Allen Sides had the most amazing collection of vintage mics, Pultecs and Langs I'd ever seen. At one time he was using Marantz 9's in the playback system.

John

Have you been lucky enough to be there?

Yes,

A long time ago (20 years?), during the AES convention in Anaheim, a free bus tour of Hollywood recording studios was organized for the attendees on a Saturday morning. Ocean Way was on the circuit. Allen Sides was very nice & lead the tour of Ocean Way himself. The old Western Recorders was still next door at the time & had all the 60's equipment still in place!

I don't know if they still have the tours during the conventions anymore.

The Ubangi style cabinets are a new one on me.
The the monitors that I had associated with Allen Sides and Ocean Way were the next few pictures down. They look basically like the bass section of the standard Augspurger monitors (reflex cab with 2x15 toed in), but turned upside down with a TAD4001 horn on top
