I have had these for years. I believe these date back to 1969. No time to ship as I'm moving Tuesday Morning so must pick up in Apex (Raleigh) NC. Speakers are in very good condition. The grills and cases need to be refinished/restored. Asking $500 for the pair. They need a good home.

Alan, neice lives in Raleigh, haven't talked to her in months. Sunday is a good day to try. If anyone else lives near Ralirgh let me know! :) These may be a good match for the MC-30s.

Surrounds look not quite right. Got any close-up shots?

I take it you mean the I allways called then grills. They wrap around the side and are in good shape. I have had the speakers for about 10 years and asume from the fit they are original. Here is the best I have. I can get another picture if needed. And they weigh as much as a Z3 :barf:

He's probably referring to the edges of the woofers, can't quite tell from your pictures whether they're foam or accordian-paper, and can't tell why they look significantly darker than the cone. They might be fine, but a close-up of the woofers alone might clear that up for someone looking to make a very quick decision.

Looks like an 001 system and to my tired eyes and that woof does look
like a 130A.

Top of the line Apollo in very good shape for $500...

Won't last long around here ;)

Yes! My neice lives in Raliegh and I have been trying desperately to get a hold of them. My plan is to PayPal the seller and have my neice pick them up or pay extra for seller to take to her. Want to make it hapen!

Hope this helps. Cones are dusty so that makes surrounds look darker. Hope these help...

Thanks Alan! Now I just have to figure out how I am going to get from S. Carolina to St. Louis! Well maybe Harvey's MC-30s will be a good match for the D130s that Harvey is familiar with from his JBL days!

Somebody better get down there & steal those things from that guy pronto before he figures out that they are worth at least 2X that much if he is willing to wait a couple of weeks for an EBAY sale.

Shhh.. he doesn't need to know that, sometimes ignorance is bliss, and at this point he should be happy to get anything for them as he has no time to wait for an Ebay sale.. At least he put them up for sale at the right place ;).

They're still a bargan at $1000.

It's just not the right thing to do.

Its just bad planning on his behalf, and someone deserves to get a deal to be able to pick these speakers up on such short notice.. just my .02.

Hey Audiobeer I dropped off the speakers today, Thank you and good luck. Yes I had some idea what the speakers where worth. I had seen the mint pair go for $1500 on flea bay when i was looking around. These are in good shape but they do need to be stripped and refinished. The covers are good and drivers are in good shape. Yes if I had time I would have auctioned them packed them shipped them. But I'm selling a house, cleaning painting and showing the house and working, since the family has moved, and I needed to clear out and join them. Yes as someone said you can't expect top dollar when you are selling them locally and only have a couple days. I'm happy that they are going to a good home where they will be appreciated, not just someone ith lots of cash. I feel good that I used them for 15 years and sold them for $500 dollars more than I paid. I helped a guy getting a divorce move he had no room "In the appartment ouch!" and he said here thanks for helping.... so I think this worked out well for all of us.

Hi Alan and Audiobeer,

Karma will flow for both of you. Alan, great story about helping your friend, you kept a nice JBL classic from getting dumped and now you pass it on to a deserving JBL vintage fan. More good things will come to you and your family, that's for sure. Good luck with all the house work and the new home.

Audiobeer, handy having family nearby! Now, how are you going to get them to St. Louis? Good Luck and post some pics when they get to you and are cleaned up from the trip.

Regards,

Bart

They are in my Neices garage and she was kind enough to take them on till I can get them out of there. I will post some pics of the before and after. I will probably use NAF or Craters and freighters to get them here. Thanks Alan! :)

Does anybody have the specs on these? I can't find anything in the library about thier weight or what the effeciency rating is on these. Anyone have a tech page on it? Thanks!!!

So I rolled the dice and used an on line shipping bid system on getting the speakers here. I put in the ad that I would spend $250 to ship and someone replied. I got them last Friday but haven't had a chance to look them over. I took pics of the before and will take pics of the after. I need some help as for as the dates that these may have been manufactured.

The cabinets are
Serial Numbers 54993 & 54992

The 130A speakers are 28997 & 28999

I could only get 1 horn serial number 27347

The other one does not have a sticker I can photograp.

When these are done I'll hook Harvey's MC-30s that Terry Dewick just turned around.

Heres another post with pics of the grill, and the horn badge. Any dates and name of horns are welcomed! In the one pick of the horn you can see where the badge came off. I glued it back in. Hard to reach!

These cabinets have a ton of dust. The only thing missing is one of the frequency control knobs. Somewhere along the move. Does anyone know of where to get a replacement?

Stripped them last night. Sanded fronts and backs after pulling drivers. Surprised to see they were 8 ohm? These may not be the most effecient for the Mc-30s? Turns out the horn serial numbers were for the throats. The serial numbers on the Driver 175s were 21213 & 21113. A bit further apart that the other drivers.

This is after the second weekend (Sundays only) working on the Apollos. The cabinets were paste filled and then glazed and sealed and now topcoated 5 times. Heres the pics of the cabinets after the staining and glazing. The grilles required stripping and gluing. I work on the grilles at least 1 hour every night since starting. They are massive pains in the $%##! The 1st picture of the 2 cabinets has lighter spots.......this is a result of the sun coming through the leaves on the oak tree.

Been busy the past month but thought I would check in. Wow, hard to believe those are my old speakers. I think the knob was gone when i sold them. Actually I think it was gone when i got them but it's been years. It looks like they picked up a couple of scapes being delivered. Hope the grills made it OK. I'm just glad to hear they have a good home. Glad to here they are what we thought they where. I was affraid they wood arrive and discover that they had been molested in the past. i'm going to miss them, but on the lighter side I do have a nice little Klipsch system.

Although not completely detailed yet I did manage to load the cabinets and check the grilles for fit. I'll get them hooked up next weekend to the amps to see how they sound. Just got to have some help getting them downstairs! :D
