Hello,
I just scored a nice pair of 4312ABKs. There are no visible damages cosmetically - the corners and edges are intact, there are no scratches to the black paint, the tweeters' metallic netted covers have no dents, the grilles are perfect, i.e.
However, one of the woofer's bottom has a leak where some clear, gooey, viscose material has seeped out. I've been told that this is 'normal' occurrence for the older 431x models that have the accordion-like paper surrounds. Otherwise, there seems to be no detrimental effect to the sound. In fact, these 4312A are very fun speakers. Can anyone tell me what this gooey stuff is, and whether I should be concerned?
