I Just bought a pair of 2405's and need some suggestions on building passive crossovers to go between my 2426j (16 ohms) and the 2405's (8 ohms). I am Bi-amping from the lows (E-140) to the 2426j. I am using 2344A horns.

Where would I buy the coils and capacitors?
What frequency would be best to crossover these drivers at.

Why don't you use the 4430/4435 compensation??? Be easier than trying to get a 2405 to integrate unless your using them for clubbing and want a bit of sizzle up there.

I had a friend in who used the 2405's with Altec horns and I always liked how they sounded. I use them at home and DJing. The 4430/4435 network looks complicated it also looks like it is designed for a 8 ohm driver.

What if I use the coils and capacitors Jbl has in there 3105 network but leave out the L-Pad. Or would I need to change the Coil and Capacitor on the HF side without the L-Pad.

The 2344 is a CD horn. It needs electrical compensation in the crossover network for flat response. Even if you biamped them you need to use this compensaton. The simple form is just a series capacitor which shunts the rest of the network. Trying to crossover a 2405 with one is not as easy as it sounds. Too end up with something that's better than the compensation used in the 4430/35 networks you are really going to have to work at it.

The compensation portion of the network is the section that does not get switched out in biamp mode. Look at the switchs in the schematic. If you want to try the simple form it's C9 and L1. C9 is what is doing most of the compensation.

I had been using a RA and EQ to compensate for the horn. Adding the 2405 would make it more difficult to get everything flat. Do you think I should use a compensation network instead of the EQ if I'm not using the 2405?

I have had the 2405's for a year and just thought I would try them out. I was thinking about adding a 10" driver between the E-140 and 2426? The 2405 would be easy to setup since I don't need to built a cabinet like I would with the 10".

The only way to do what you are proposing is to obtain a set of 2307 and 2308 horn lense assemblies and run that with your 2405.. That and you idea of the 10 inch driver makes sense.
