I am using the subject drivers in a folded horn enclosure. I need a matching crossover and was told that the JBL 3160 was a direct replacement for the JBL N500H which was used in the Hartsfield. The info on the JBL Pro site does not mention the JBL 2440 in its application. In addition, my woofer is the JBL2205J rated at 16ohms and the crossover output on the 3160 is 4ohms.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a matching crossover? I am presently using the JBL LX5 which is 8ohms. Thank you.

Early version 3152=500hz and 3182=800hz has the 12-16 ohm low freq

I am using 2226J and 2440 compression driver.

Both are 16 ohm drivers and I am thinking of trying 2nd order at approx 1 Khz. The values I selected are close to textbook, but using what I have on hand.

For the 2226J, 5 mh coil (low DCR Erse from PE) and 4.7 ufd cap (poly) and 47 ufd cap with series resistor 15 ohm for zoebel.

For the 2440, 4 ufd (oil) cap with 5 mh coil (air core) and 16 ohm 100 watt L-pad and 33 ohm resistor paralleled with the driver.

I ordered some cast aluminum 2" throat horns from PE yesterday (B & C ME-60) and they are scheduled to arrive Monday. PE has them on sale for $75.00 each and free shipping on orders over $100.00. I'm not sure how well these horns will work out, but I will try it out!

Next week I will report on my progress on this project if anyone is interested.;)

Ron, thank you for the info. I found out that my LX5 measures 12.5ohms, thanks to Dave, and it is a close enough match to my drivers. They sound fantastic!

Hello, Adriaan here.

In the Instruction Manual is the following stated, use the autoformer JBL 9375 to develope an proper load impedance

I, do have aan eckhorn for the LOW with an 4 Ohm 18" in conjunction with the JBL 3160 For the MID/HIGH an JBL 2482 + IWATA 35" wide and then for the HIGH an JBL 2405 and as second crossover the JBL 3105, this works very good.

Good luck, and try to find the solutions in reading the Heritage section, over and over again, I learn a lot, and for me as Dutchman its not allways easy to understand !!

Regards to all big-horn lovers !!
