I've just finished popping out the mass rings from twelve 2235H drivers.
Doing the first one was a little scary. The last woofer was one I purchased off ePAY -- it always had a little buzz when it played. After I cut off the dust cap I found out why. The reconer who worked on this woofer just loved Bostik -- he / she / it laid it on so thickly that it dripped down from the mass ring onto the kapton voice coil former -- it would hit the pole piece when the woofer was driven hard.:barf:

After an hour of cleaning with MIBK and Q-tips all the extra Bostik was removed. I hooked up the woofer to an oscillator and a BGW bench amp -- VOILĄ -- NO BUZZ.

So - what does that do for you - I mean audibly, popping the mass ring off those 15s?
Not meaning to be snooty, I really want to know ...

I dont use cone midranges -- I use horns -- I dont want to cross them over at too low a frequency -- this avoids "honkiness" . The 2234 has a little more midrange response than the 2235 -- I can set the crossover at 1 KHz and the 2234 sounds pretty good -- better than the 2235.

8 of them go into my g/f home theater - 2 per channel.
approx 5 cu. ft.

Haven't sorted out the center channel yet.
