Hi everyone,

This is my very first posting here.

I was hoping to get some opinions from members.

I have the opportunity to purchase a pair of either 4333a's or 4425's.

I will be using them in my home for vinyl listening, using a Crown SA-2 amp, a Bozak CMA-10DL Pre amp/mixer and a Technics 1200 turntable.

My thoughts at the moment are purely based on the cosmetics.
The 4333a's are huge.
The 4425's are a more reasonable size as far as my girlfriend is concerned although they are ugly (her words not mine)

Both are in very good condition for their age.

Having never actually listened to either of these speakers I was hoping for someone who has compared them to give me some info.

I listen to most kinds of music, from Jazz to Rock to Electronic.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.:)

Unfortunately they are apples and oranges. One is a large format monitor the the other is a mid field. They also have different design philosophies as well. You really need to go have a listen for yourself. They are both good speakers in their own right but can and will sound very different. I suggest you do a little reading in the Library and Tech Section and at the JBL site.

Mate, you're gonna have to do something about that girlfriend. If she thinks the 4425's are ugly, it's only going to get worse as the JBL addiction takes hold.

Yeah - last weekend when were picking music to demo them with for the potential buyer, my Emma decided the L200s sounded so nice that she made me keep them. And we already had 4341s in the other room ...

but she has good taste - the L200s, 4341s and 4333s aren't ugly like 4425s with those butt cheek tweeters :applaud:

Think of them as modern art.

They were designed by JBL as a "domestic" speaker by the way.

I vote for the 4333a's.

Always liked them!

Educatate the girlfriend in the ways of the JBL(read: "force") Then marry her because they will become half hers. JBL always go up in value. Appeal to her financial side, they all have one! Convince her that you are buying JBL's to help your nestegg, together! Lay it on thick!

Works everytime!!!

Lisa LOVES JBL's.......now!

My vote: get the 4333A's for the living room and the 4425's for the den or bedroom.
