About 25 yrs ago I remember a article on NASA's system to reproduce a rocket engine,the article was about propulsion system testing,I also saw something about it in a old goldsound(Colorado) catalog.so if you want to break your lease,I would think 6 375's and 6 le15's should do it,I'm thinking, less than a day and you should be out of it:applaud:.

I don't know about this particular project, but before JBL started Transducers Inc., we had a project to build a speaker system that would generate 150 dB into a 12" cube to test gauges for use in military planes.

We had a horn made that was roughly 6' x 6' in mouth area, about 8 feet long, tapering down to a 12" opening. The horn was made out of 1/4" thick steel. And we used multiple drivers on it. Don't remember how many, but I think they were 150-4C's and 375's.

I remember that when we tested it, we put some flies in the test chamber and they seemed to emerge unscathed.

Before we loaded it up with the speaker baffle, I stuck a D208 on the small end, and it sounded great.

One time long ago I purchased a set of 150-4C's nos in sealed boxes, the shipping label indicated that they were originally owned by Lockheed. I suppose that they were intending to be used in a similar testing arrangement.

I heard of some of the equipment(JBL) was used at White Sands missille test range and also Yumma flats-Groom lake(area 51),I wouldnt be surprized if the goverment had some of this old stuff mothballed in some out of the way warehouses,many years ago some of the military salvage auctions/catalogs offered some old drivers from Transducer inc.,test equipment/tubes/parts from Altec,RCA,Mcintosh,Jefferson,Kittle,and many others.I think you can still get on the mailing lists(web info-now??) of auctions that the goverment has,you never know what youll find.the last one I went to was around 1980(in MICH)and picked up 4 Altec 9440 amps which were in useable shape,they also had speaker systems by EV but I passed on them.
