I noticed there are dashes after the driver model name. Does this matter in replacing for example L100 drivers?

Hello Jim

It depends on which drivers and what the particlar dash numbers are. Now that was a big help right! Clear as mud. I will post a link to the Le-5 matrix which is what your midrange driver is. It would help greatly if we knew the specifics. Some differences can be round vs edgewound coils, driver frame color, different cone material, so yes it can be significant.

Does this matter in replacing for example L100 drivers? And, Jim, you may know this, but there were at-least three iterations of the venerable L100, and the evolution was most impacting on the woofer.

Stick with the original part numbers to ensure you are honoring the original network topology (assuming it is still in the cabinet).

- The above are links to threads with useful info on the le25 tweeter ( all found with this sites' search engine ) .
- By all means read them ( to make your own conclusion ) but it seems to me that these tweeters are just about all interchangeable, acoustically and physically .

- Here's a view of the le5 ( midrange driver ) matrix. Please thank Giskard for this organizational effort .

- I'll leave it to you ( or someone else ) to search the archives to learn about the differences in the 2212, 2213 and 2213H woofers ( as found in the 3 variants of the L100 ) .

- Here's a link to A huge number of JBL tech sheets ( in pdf form ) (http://audioheritage.csdco.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=10661).
- Download those that you think may have comparable component parts to the speakers that you own.

PS : There's no need to start new threads about the same subject matter / just ask your newest question here ( or even the same one with a different slant ) / the thread automagically will bounce to the top for all to see .

Actually, all three originally housed the 123A-series woofs.

L100 Century = 123A-1 (this transducer runs positive).
L100A Century = 123A-1 (ibid)
L100A Centruy (Late Model) - 123A-3 (this runs negative).

The 2213H is a recommended replacement for all three, but do mind the polarity advice provided in the tech sheets...

-Yeh, I encountered that fact somewhat after my posting ( though , I think I listed the correct Pro equivalents ).

- "No matter" I thought, " it's only a matter of time before some fanatical L100 lover will correct me" . ;)

I suggest to Earl to add a new reference in its LE25 list for this new JBL design !
Perhaps I understand nothing about tranducers :banghead: (in ebay :bs:world) ?
