Does anyone know frequency response of Altec 32B horns. Will they go down to 1000hz. Thanks.

FWIW :
- Info found in the library, states that the 32B horn is a 800 hz radial type ( or maybe sectoral, depending on the catalogue viewed ) . The horn provides 90° by 40° coverage. Therefore, if mine, I'd be sticking a driver on it and then measuring the combos' F3 point to see how well it/"they" reproduce 1000 hz .

- I've never seen any FR plots published for any of the 802-xx/32B combos / it would be nice to see how the horns' 45° bent throat affects HF dispersion .

I had a stock pair of Altec A-8's with 416 and 806 on 32B horn crossed over at 800hz.

I found compared to the 511B/811B horns that the 32B had less upper HF extension.

I had no problem letting those go as I felt a tweeter would have been necessary if I kept them.

Just my 2 cents worth!

- I suspect that due to that 45° bend in the throat, this class of horn should be given some form of HF compensation ( just as if it was a true Constant Directivety horn ) .

- I'd still like to know if the throat bend "widens-out" the HF pattern somewhat, ( a' la, a CD style horn )

Thank you for all your help. I've tried the combo crossing at 1000hz and they sound quite nice - everybit as good as the 511B horns.
