So how come JBL isn’t producing these fine loudspeakers anymore as I haven seen them anywhere on Internet expect, Ebay! I wouldn’t mind three, JBL Control 12SR for the fronts!

The first time I saw a pair of JBL Control 12SR two-way design and that was at Eddie Moors music store in Boscombe, back in 1990. I also saw a pair of JBL Control 10 three-way design at a friend’s house although they belonged to his roommate. They looked and sounded nice and would be very suitable for home cinema use! :p

So why is the JBL Control 1 series and JBL Control 5 still in mass production? And where is the JBL Control 5 plus?

So what kind of price were these speakers -
it might be worth looking at other JBLs in that price range ...

Control 1s are cheap in the tent sale this week. I think they're six for $210. So maybe they are being discontinued.

Prices like that for the JBL Control 1 have been going around for the last few years now. I’m sure it’s just a super special deal there doing. But why was the JBL Control 10 and 12SR stopped? And why doesn’t JBL start producing them again?

Probably a lot of reasons for that - but I suspect one reason is what Giskard and TiDo talk about - Price point ... There just may not be much market for that kind of speaker in that price range ...
Besides - what kind of cost can there be on Control 1 Speakers that are closed out at 6 for $210?? ... thats $35 each - $70 a pair!!
Thats the kind of price range for those Home Theatre in a Box sets that Harman sells ...

Well I think the JBL Control 10 sold for around £600 pounds and the 12SR for £800 pounds?

As for the JBL Control 1, that l have well the pair was £49.98 for a pair, not too bad going at that price.

I have a pair of Control-10's. They're nice speakers.

The Control-12's seem to be particularly rare. How do they compare with the 10's?

I noticed in the specifications I used to a broacher for the JBL Control 10 and 12SR Control 1 and 5, I’m not sure where I misplaced them?

So, yes I think the Control 10 has lower frequency response over the 12SR, but the 12SR has slightly higher power rating and sensitivity.

Maybe I can get some JBL Control 10’s at Ray’s Music Exchange?:D

Yes I would like three but I know that’s an odd number so yes I would like to buy four in good nick.

Thank you for an informative first post

FWIW, the starting bid is higher than what I actually paid for mine a few months back on ePay.

Wow, $400US plus $63 shipping. I must have been lucky to get mine for $200 and pickup. (It was on the way back from my Ohio rendezvous with Subwoof and the 4345s.)
