Hi, folks,

within my two C56 Dorian ( L-101 ) I got two LX-10 crossover networks and these things need some restauration job since the sound is bad, at least on one of them. Can anyone provide some help?

- A wiring diagram available or data known?
- How to open the sealed aluminum box with minimized damage?
Should I drill out the back cover pins or better try to weaken the glue seal at the front end?
- What can I expect to find inside except the usual electronical parts, i.e. rock wool, sand?
- Should I look for a complete replacement part with better technical and acoustical features? Crossover freq is 1500Hz with LE175 and LE14A.

Thanks, John

JBL LX10.gif

I usually drill out the rivets and replace them with self-tapping screws.

Usually foam squares and rectangles.

You might want to replace the caps with new caps of the same value. Resistors too. They should be 10 W non-inductive. The chokes should be ok but feel free to replace them with air cores having roughly the same DCR value.

Giskard and others,

I may need to build a couple of these from scratch. I know of an internet source for the fixed value components, high audio quality, but what about the dual resistive element L-pad, R3? Believe this was JBL PN 13359. Can one still obtain these from JBL?

Tks,
