Hi, I have a pair of JBL L100's with no grille. does anyone have any advice on building a grill from scratch

I haven't followed Bo's advice... but I think I would look into buying a pair on eBay... With patience I bet you will find a pair at a good price. The alternative is a fair amount of work for a walnut trimmed grill that may not fit as well as you like.

For an aftermarket quadrex foam solution you may try Hall Cox, but you will still need the frame.

If you're speaking of the early wood grille frames, I have specs on these which any respectable woodshop should be able to make.
