Hi Forum!

Yesterday I measured the response of a brandnew 2426H on a brandnew 2344A. This stuff is for Ralfs DIY 4430's.

To protect the Driver I connected it via a 12dB xover with 1500Hz highpass (from a MR805).
No Horn EQ as far as I know.

See what I got. The 2426H looks quite good at high frequency.

So my question is:
Has the 2426 a better high frequency response than the 2425?
JBL states "2", slightly different, usually improved.

Can you help?

The changes are very subtle. Ever see a 2425S?? It looks just like a 2426 without the screw on driver mount. Same gap, same replacement diaphram and same phase plug so what is different?? Flux is 1.8 2426 and 1.7 2425 same 2 mil thick diaphram. Anything else asside from the screw on adaptor?????

Hi

Apart from the mentioned differences of gauss values and attachment fixings, I believe there was a change in the metal type used for the "Flux Stabilizing Ring". The earlier 2425 model used a pure silver ring while the 2426/7 uses a copper ring .

I own both and I don't hear any differences. I prefer the 2426 with it's removable snout. It's a lot more flexible for horn attaching.

Hi Guido,

there are red, green, and blue curves for the frequency response. Do they reflect measurements at different angles?

Hi Jan,

no I did 3 measurements all under same circumstances. What we see is tolereance of equipment.

BTW and as requested:
I use an amazing tool called hifish! www.hifish.de
Level between horizontal lines is 5 dB.

Do you got an other result for the 2425H?

That`s why I wondered...

I have the 2425J in my system...

But the result should be the same.

But we could make a messurement of the 2426H with the network of the 4430...that would interest me

So don`t forget the parts at home...

Greetings
Ralf
