Looks like these were used during some of Elvis's recordings. The speakers look like they miss Elvis to.

Elvis Bit the Big One in August 77 Those 4311's are 4311B,s I think 4311b,s were not on the market till after he died. As well look at the pictures of the King??? , those pics look like late 60,s or early 70,s .
I would bet my last donut that they had Altec monitors in that studio when those pics were snapped!!!

You are absolutely right John, I checked the 4311 79-80 and the 4311 B 79-80. In the Ghetto was released in 1969. Something is wrong here. The songs he say Elvis sung were sung in that studio but through different speakers. I will email the seller for an explanation.

I think its important to read the ad careful ...
These Professional grade JBL 4311 Studio Monitors (Serial # 61660 & 61650) were used in American Sound Studios where Elvis Presley recorded many of his later hits ("In The Ghetto", "Suspicious Minds", "Don't Cry Daddy", "Kentucky Rain", "From Elvis in Memphis", & "From Memphis to Vegas").
It says they were used at America Studios - the same studio WHERE Elvis recorded some hits ... but it doesn't actually say Elvis used them ...
Its a fine line, and very careful phrasing to be sure, but - I'd call it a hustle.
There is probably a lot of stuff available for the collector that has a tenuous connection to a famous name like Elvis Presley.
"This Cadillac is certified as being from the garage used by Elvis"

Heather, it is a fine line and to associate these speakers with Elvis just because they were in the same studio, well, you know what people will think.

Be nice if they cleaned the goo gobs off them. :p
If that's American in Memphis, I recorded there in the mid-sixties.
It was VOTT in the control room....

It's all in what you think you're getting as the "pedigree".
Frankly, the Ace Frehley pair, wrong drivers and all were more
"attractive" to me. Perhaps it's my age...
I picked up an A-WX pair of these in like condition for ~10x less.
Mine were finely aged in a prestigious university dorm environment
(and emptied of any questionable materials during the refinish, which
irrevocably destroyed the patina ... goo globs and all :p)

Even if the 4311b's were used in recording E, it's too weak a connection in my mind to justify tripling the ordinary asking price. Let's see if he can find a sucker to bite.
There's an old documentary film, possibly the ca.1970 "That's the way it is", where you can see Elvis in one room singing while the black girl background singers, probably the Sweet Inspirations, are in another room working out the backing stuff. The monitor just behind the girls looks like an AR-3a.
Speaking of gear with famous connections, there a Craigs ad that claims to be selling Jerry Garcia's Mac equipment, complete with "party" residue. ;)

If any of you have ever toured Graceland, there are four (4) 4311's in EP's personal plane, the "Lisa Marie". So, there is a connection between Elvis and the 4311 (released before EP's death). I dunno about the 4311B's that are the subject of this thread.
