Was just wondering if someone could tell me the model of these JBL floor standing speakers?

Thank you, in advance.

That’s one of those SVA types from the looks of the horn in the middle.

Lucky bugger:applaud: I wouldn’t mind three for the fronts it’s just some that doesn’t pop up that often in the Free Adds local paper.

The HLS Series was the entry level consumer horn-based line for a number of years. Some models used two woofers with a horn in the middle (like HLS620 and 820). Some used a single woofer and horn (like HLS410, 610 and 810). Many would argue that it's not a true horn system, but who really cares? It's an economy system that sounds pretty good for the money.

The SVA Series definitely was not entry level, though the SVA1600 would superficially look a lot like an HLS620. If you pulled the drivers and networks, you'd see a difference. If you lifted them you'd feel the difference: 60 lb. vs 35 lb.

The larger SVAs (1800 and 2100) are capable of prodigious output if your amp's not a wimp and your room's not too small. I put 300W/ch from a Hafler SR2300 into my SVA2100s, and the sound is very loud, very dynamic, and very clean.

Personally, I wouldn't call an SVA1600 "ho hum," but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy one either. It works great as a surround, but I wouldn't want it as a main, especially after hearing an 1800 or 2100.

But next to my L112's, both driven by a Yamaha M-80 (250W/ch monoblock, no slouch) amp, they're ho-hum to me even in HT. More so in 2-channel, especially running vinyl. :rockon1:

Well, you're entitled to your opinion on the 1600s (which isn't much different than mine), and look, you got to write it twice. ;)

If I'm not mistaken the tweeter is a 10mm or 12mm AUDAX Hard Dome as we use to call it back in the day. I would agree on the entry level statement, especially since it is built around a $15.00 retail tweeter minus the horn and network. I used to own a pair of the 810's 8" two way, I liked them for what they were, but moved on.
