PLEASE HELP. I HAVE A PAIR OF JBL MINIGON SPEAKERS. I WILL BE SELLING THEM AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I SHOULD HAVE THE LE 10 SPEAKERS RE- EDGED WITH NEW SURROUNDS OR JUST SELL THEM THE WAY THEY ARE. AND LET THE NEW OWNER HAVE THEM REPAIRED.I KNOW SOME ARE REAL PICKEY ABOUT THIS.THE CURRENT SURROUNDS ARE NOT FOAM AND ARE SUPER STIFF.THESE ARE THE ORIGINALS.I KNOW IT WOULD COST AROUND 45 A SPEAKER TO HAVE DONE. BUT I DONT WANT TO HANDLE THESE SPEAKERS ANY MORE THAN I HAVE TO.YOUR OPINION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!! WHAT WOULD THESE BE WORTH AND ANYBODY INTERESTED.I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK THAT CAME WITH THEM.

My -personal- opinion, were I to be the buyer, I would not want them done
outside of my control, and would pay as much or more for them in an
unmolested state. If you have time to post pics here, that'd be great.
I'm sure the serial number guys would love to hear from you too.

Best is to offer the option. Sell with original surrounds, but you'll have new ones installed at buyer's expense, if desired.

Test the voice coils with a VOM so you can vouch for them (or give them a low-power audio test).

A search for "bad recone" on this forum generates over 100 hits.
A bad recone, and many are done by professionals, can be hard or impossible to undo.

It can only be original once.

Vert nice.

Don't recone or refoam or play them. Let the buyer do that.

Especially don't crank them up....
