Greetings, The speaker outputs of the 9444B amp in bridged mode states 600W/8ohm, 70VRMS. I need to power 6 speakers tapped at 60 watts and wired in parallel. What do I need the do this (a 400-600 watt 70Volt output transformer}? The speakers have an 8 ohm bypass but that puts the total impedance at 1.6 ohms (if I did the calculation right).

Thanks, CarterWeb

Greetings, The speaker outputs of the 9444B amp in bridged mode states 600W/8ohm, 70VRMS...

The integral 8 ohm output voltage just happens to be 70V under fully-driven conditions, the 9444B is not a 70V amp.

For distributed systems, you will need to add a step-up xfmr, Altec part number 15525A (70V-300W) or equiv. Hookup details are in the manual, at;

There's a 15525A on eBay at the moment (no affilliation or endorsement);
